Lotus Bridge International School is proud to announce that a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the Rekhi Foundation for Happiness to establish a Rekhi Centre of Excellence for the Science of Happiness at our school.
Rekhi Centres aim to promote research, training and education as well as the practice of well-being for students and teachers through the application of knowledge around happiness and well-being.
The Rekhi Foundation has provided an evidence-based curriculum which our school is implementing in the appropriate year levels to provide our students with the skills to be more resilient, happy and healthy members of society.
We continue to look forward to a fruitful partnership and are proud to be able to provide an evidence-based education in the well-being to our students.
About the Rekhi Foundation
The Rekhi Foundation for Happiness is a nonprofit Trust started by Dr. Satinder Singh Rekhi and his wife Harpreet Kaur Rekhi in 2016.
The foundation aims to expand the practice and knowledge of happiness science and positive psychology with a vision to promote happiness for all.
Its mission is to create Centres of Excellence in academia across the globe to disseminate knowledge through science and the practice of happiness. It has set up Centres at over 40 universities and schools and through the programme taught over 5000 students to adopt and practice the science of happiness.
The Rekhi Foundation's “Science of Happiness and Well-Being” course provides a comprehensive exploration into the multifaceted nature of happiness, drawing from psychology, neuroscience, and practical applications.
It is designed to empower students with the knowledge and tools to enhance their well-being and positively impact their communities.
Just some of the topics the course covers: - understanding emotions
- the neuroscience of happiness
- practical strategies for daily living
The course teaches students how to cultivate and maintain happiness in their personal and professional/educational lives through:
- theoretical frameworks
- practical exercises
- real-world examples
Students are taught:
- the importance of measuring happiness
- the role of empathy, gratitude and kindness
- the role of workplace & school-based happiness
- effective communication of happiness
- mindfulness practices
- building resilience during stressful times
The curriculum teaches the above through
- projects
- maintaining a gratitude journal
- monitoring progress
- recommended readings from renowned authors and mindfulness practitioners
Lotus Bridge International School has begun adapting the curriculum and introducing the key content, skills and practical exercises to our students through our Total Student Development Programme (TSDP).

Our school's Lead Advisor to the Student Council Sayem Muntasir Mamun (Year 11) welcomed and briefed our esteemed guest on the school's innovations and special programmes. Dr Rekhi then addressed the upper secondary students (Years 9-12) of LBIS on the work and global contributions of the Rekhi Foundation for Happiness which was followed by a question and answer section which our students found very illuminating.
